Everything you need to know before we start.
How we work, what we charge, who we are a good fit for, and what happens after you reach out.
Determining a fit
Who is Carril a good fit for?
Founders launching or relaunching a business who need brand, web, growth, and AI handled by one team, and marketing managers inside established brands who need a senior partner to own scope and execute alongside their team. If you need a Co-Driver rather than a vendor waiting for instructions, we are a good fit.
Do you work with early-stage startups?
Yes. Many of our clients are pre-launch or just past it. We scope work to match your stage, so you are not paying for infrastructure you do not need yet.
Is there a project you would turn down?
We pass on projects where the scope stays unclear and there is no openness to a discovery conversation first, or where the timeline does not allow the work to be done properly. If either sounds like your situation, tell us and we will help you figure out what to fix before we start.
Do you work alongside our existing team or other vendors?
Yes. We regularly work alongside internal developers, in-house designers, and other agencies. We are used to handing off clear documentation and coordinating around existing workflows.
Is there a minimum project size?
There is no fixed minimum, but most engagements start around $2,000. If your project is smaller than that, tell us on the call. We will point you toward the right starting scope even if it means starting smaller than a full package.
Scope
What is included in a typical engagement?
It depends on the service, but every engagement follows the same shape: discovery and scoping, architecture and planning, build in sprints with regular check-ins, then launch and support. Each service page lists the specific deliverables included.
How do you define scope before starting?
On the first call we review your goals, content, and technical requirements. We follow up with a written scope covering deliverables, milestones, and timeline before any work begins, so you know exactly what you are getting and when.
What happens if the scope changes mid-project?
We scope and quote changes separately rather than silently absorbing them or letting them derail your timeline. You always know the cost and timeline impact before you agree to a change.
Can I start with one service and expand later?
Yes. It is the most common path. Many clients start with a single website or brand project, then add a marketing retainer or AI system once the foundation is live.
What do you need from me to get started?
Access to any existing accounts or assets (domain, hosting, brand files), a point of contact for feedback, and honest answers on the first call about your goals and constraints. We handle the rest.
Pricing
How is pricing structured?
Project-based for defined scope like a website or brand identity, and retainer-based for ongoing work like marketing or AI system management. Most clients start with a project and move to a retainer once the foundation is live.
What is the typical price range?
Most one-time projects fall between $2,000 and $20,000 depending on scope and complexity. Marketing retainers start from $1,500 per month. We give you a clear number after understanding what you actually need, not a generic package price.
When do I pay?
A deposit to begin, then the remainder split across agreed milestones, or on delivery for smaller projects. Retainers are billed monthly in advance.
Are there hidden fees?
No. Your quote covers the scope we agree on. Anything outside that scope is quoted separately before we start it, never added to an invoice as a surprise.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Milestone-based payments are the default for larger projects, so you are never paying for work that has not been delivered yet.
Team and process
Who actually works on my project?
A small, senior team. No account managers, no junior handoffs, no layers between you and the person doing the work. You talk directly to the people building your project.
How do you communicate during a project?
Weekly check-ins or demos, plus async updates in between so you are never wondering what is happening. You will always know what shipped, what is next, and what we need from you.
Do you use AI in your process?
Yes. We design in Paper and build with Claude Code, AI-native tools that let us move faster without cutting corners. This website is a real example, designed in Paper and built with Claude Code end to end.
How many people will I be working with?
Enough to get the work done well, and no more. Most projects run with one to three people directly involved, depending on scope.
What if I am unhappy with a direction?
Tell us early. We build in checkpoints specifically so you can redirect before something is finished, not after. Revisions within the agreed scope are part of the process, not an extra cost.
Legal and ownership
Who owns the final code and designs?
You do. Full ownership of everything we deliver transfers to you on final payment, including source files, code repositories, and design assets.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes. We are happy to sign an NDA before any confidential information is shared, and we treat client information as confidential by default regardless.
Is there a contract?
Yes. Every engagement starts with a signed agreement covering deliverables, timeline, payment terms, and ownership. Nothing starts on a verbal understanding alone.
What about third-party licenses, like fonts or stock assets?
We flag anything that requires an ongoing license before we use it, and purchase it under your account wherever possible, so you keep control of it after the project ends.
Can you work with our procurement or vendor onboarding process?
Yes. We regularly work within standard vendor onboarding for established companies, including their own contract templates and compliance requirements.
Timelines
How long does a typical project take?
Most projects take 4 to 12 weeks depending on the service and scope. A website build typically runs 4 to 6 weeks. An MVP cleanup can take longer depending on how much debt has built up. We give you an honest timeline before we start, not an optimistic one.
What causes delays?
The most common cause is late feedback or missing content from the client side, not our own capacity. We flag dependencies early so you know what we are waiting on.
Can you accommodate a rush timeline?
Sometimes, depending on our current capacity and the scope involved. Tell us your deadline on the first call and we will be honest about whether it is realistic.
What happens after launch?
We stay on for fixes and updates during a short post-launch window, then you can move to a monthly retainer if you want ongoing support, or handle it in-house with the documentation we provide.
When can we actually start?
Usually within a week or two of the intro call, once scope and payment terms are confirmed. We will give you an exact start date before you commit.
